It seems many years ago that I qualified from the University of Melbourne. Soon after I travelled to the UK to locum and explore my paternal heritage, however I unexpectedly settled in Dorset and never returned to Australia. It is a fortunate person who can spend decades enjoying their work and so I feel blessed to be one of these few. As a generalist veterinary surgeon my role covers treating animals in multiple disciplines, my current area of study is in veterinary dentistry which is an area in which we all can do so much more and make a big difference to the lives of many of our pets. I look forward to meeting you and your pets when you are next in the hospital. Cathie

I graduated from Nottingham University in July 2017, and. In 2021, I embarked on a new adventure as a night vet, where I've had the privilege of tending to the needs of our beloved companions when they need it most. My commitment to continuous learning and professional growth led me to pursue a postgraduate certificate in emergency medicine and surgery. Beyond the life in the clinic, I share my life with four wonderful border collies. These intelligent and spirited companions have taught me the value of patience, companionship, and the joys of outdoor adventures.

I have lived in Dorset all my life and love it here. I currently don’t have any pets, but have owned guinea pigs, chinchillas, cats, dogs, reptiles, stick insects and a horse. I studied at Lynwood School of Veterinary Nursing and qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2021. I joined the Southfields team in September 2023. I enjoy all aspects of the job and the variety of patients and cases we see. No two days are ever the same! I have developed a particular interest in laboratory work and anaesthesia and hope to develop these further. Outside of work I enjoy going to the gym, paddleboarding, baking, playing video games and spending time with my friends and family.

I’m new to this veterinary surgery & have nothing but praise for them. It has been, by far, the easiest sign up & visit I have ever experienced! Both my dogs are on the healthcare plan. The price is good & treatments have been adapted to a health issue without a problem. From the first phone call onwards, the staff have been kind, reassuring & extremely helpful. I would recommend medivets in Dorchester to anyone looking for quality & professionalism.

Very happy with our experience. Felt the vet cared about her patient and gave her a thorough examination. She was attentive to our needs and our little girl (Bengal cat) would have happily settled down with Alex for the morning, on her couch.

My cat Salem was in a fight and came off worse. I rang them out of hours and by 9.15pm he had been treated and sent home with medicine. The vet was so kind and caring. I cannot thank them enough, considering how angry he was too...Thank you.

Only given 1 star as 0 stars is not an option. Service was awful, no care given to our dog at all … a complete “show me the money” experience … quoted a ridiculous fee, and given that our dog had already been diagnosed with Pancreatitis, then declared that unless we paid 50% up front there and then they would turn him away, despite our insurance company already agreeing to cover the costs in full. I would strongly recommend that no one ever darkens their doors unless you’re keen to see vets prioritise the almighty pound over any form of care for the animals. Truly shocking experience.

I went to medivet in Dorchester as an emergency outpatient for my cat klaus. The team were wonderful and helped klaus back to health over the course of 4 days. The staff always made sure to update daily to let me know how klaus was doing. If it wasn't for the team I don't think klaus would be with me now. Thank you all so much

Very friendly, caring & efficient staff Clean & tidy. Provide little touches such as soft bed for arthritic pets whilst waiting & a candle which is lit in the waiting room when someone is saying goodbye to their pet, thus ensuring a quiet atmosphere when leaving There’s a chirpy budgie too!

Took my dog in to be neutered, during which the vet couldn't get a line in to his stomach so instead of asking for help kept trying until he ruptured my drugs spleen causing him to almost die. Spleen was removed then he was prescribed drugs with the wrong dosage on. No one followed up with me and apologised until I complained. After I complained and still had to pay over £500 for the neutering but the practice manager emailed and said I could have the splenectomy (which was clearly never asked for) for free as a "goodwill gesture" as he put it. Still not even a phone call and when I replied to his email he then ignored it. This practice has gone massively downhill since medivet took over. AVOID!

Great practice, have used them for years and with my previous boy who was a rescue, with baggage, this was always managed and understood with no judgement. However, on my most recent visit, the price increase is ridiculous and in this time where things are more of a struggle, I feel that this is wrong. I know this isn’t Southfields but a Medivet decision but this doesn’t alter the fact that it appears vet practices can charge whatever they like.

*Based on average saving for dogs and cats on the Medivet Healthcare Plan over a 12 month period at this practice. This saving excludes the additional savings benefits that are available to these pets on plan (e.g. 15% off dental procedures & 10% off vet care and medication and some food). Prices correct February 2024.
